Sitaare Zameen Par Box Office Day 2: Sitaare Zameen Par, directed by R. S. Prasanna and produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit, released on June 20, 2025. It stars Aamir Khan as a disgraced basketball coach forced to train a team of mentally handicapped players, opposite Genelia Deshmukh and a youthful, energetic cast filled with Bollywood’s new blood. It’s follows in Aamir’s tradition established by Taare Zameen Par (2007) of socially minded narratives.
Sitaare Zameen Par Box Office Day 2
- Day 1 (Friday, Jun 20): ₹10.7 crore gross (India net), low opening for an Aamir Khan film.
- Day 2 (Saturday, Jun 21): The film enjoyed a heroic jump, grossing ₹20.2 – ₹21.7 crore in all languages nearly doubling its earnings from Friday.
- Two‑Day Total: Net collections in India are in the range of ₹30.9–32.4 crore.
Occupancy & Audience Response
On Saturday, it averaged 36.16%, increasing consistently from 13% in the morning to a high of 56.7% at night. BMS ticket sales surged to 88.8%, with approximately 455,000 tickets sold, beating all but a handful of 2025 Bollywood films in Saturday day over ticket sales.
This huge jump is indicative of the film’s incredible word-of-mouth and critical praise, continuing to build after its opening day.
While not anywhere near the blockbuster openings of Aamir’s films Dangal or PK, which opened with ₹25–50 crore on Day 1, Sitaare Zameen Par is moving closer to the average of a strong word-of-mouth success with substantial Day 2 increases. It’s a better hold than Laal Singh Chaddha (₹18.96 crore) and Kesari Chapter 2 (~₹17.5 crore) after two days, beating them both.
Audience Reception on Sitaare Zameen Par
Critics have trumpeted the film for its warm tone, inclusive message and authentic performances, especially from its debutants. Stand-up comedian Vir Das called it “Funny and refreshing at its core,” praising the film’s move away from action towards impactful storytelling. Not all reactions have been glowing. Even some audience on Reddit clearly stated it didn’t quite live up to the emotional catharsis of Taare Zameen Par, though reactions seem to vary widely.
The film’s Day 2 increase is a telling indicator of a thriving connection with the audience and strong word-of-mouth momentum, both critical for a long-term run in theaters. With a great two-day total and great word of mouth already built, it’s looking like a great weekend overall.
