Skin Care for Dry Skin: What is the difference between serum and facial oil?

Skin Care is something that most of us take for granted. Well, great skin is not just about genes but it involves healthy habits. Undoubtedly, climate and pollution are the key elements that give the constant signal that you need to take care of your skin.

In this article, we will focus on dry skin mainly. We all wish that we had perfect skin, however, we really need a ‘Jinnie’ for this wish to be granted. Till the time we find a Jinnie, we must take care of our skin all by ourselves.

Speaking of dry skin, it can look uneven, blotchy, and decidedly more wrinkled, as moisture plumps and smoothes the skin. It also doesn’t reflect light in the same way as healthily hydrated skin. When it comes to using products on your face, it is best to do so at spaced intervals, allowing your skin some time to breathe in between. This is why it is important to split your daily skincare regimen into a daytime and nighttime routine.

When it comes to taking care of dry skin, the internet including beauty and lifestyle bloggers or vloggers will suggest you use a serum and facial oil. Well, these two products are undoubtedly best suitable for dry skin. But, ladies often find it difficult to understand the basic difference between them both.

What is the difference between a serum and a facial oil?

Serum:

Face serums are lightweight moisturizers that contain a higher concentration of active ingredients (such as hyaluronic acid, glycolic acid, and vitamin C) than typical facial moisturizers. Known for their effectiveness, face serums are often used to manage specific skincare concerns, such as wrinkles.

A serum will also typically be thinner than a moisturizer, which makes them perfect for layering. Serums can come in a variety of different formulas, including gels, oils, and light creams, and they can even have a water-like consistency in some cases.

The serum is applied straight after cleansing the skin.

Facial Oil:

Face oil is made up of natural extracts and can help in hydrating your skin and in some cases, brighten it up . Olive oil, for example, is known to be great for brightening your skin. Argan oil is known to be great at clearing acne and hydrating your skin, while Marula oil has antibacterial properties.

It is recommended that you use face oil twice a day, once in the morning and once at night. However, make sure you consult a dermatologist before applying a face oil since there could be chances that it could end up causing irritation and skin inflammation.
