Sony and Microsoft’s Agreement

Following Activision Blizzard’s acquisition, Phil Spencer, head of Microsoft Gaming and Xbox, tweeted, “We are delighted to announce that Microsoft and PlayStation have signed a binding agreement to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation. We anticipate a future where users worldwide will have more options to play their favourite games.” Sony has expressed concerns about Microsoft’s anti-competitive practices prior to this announcement.

The Japanese tech titan asserted that the American developer could remove the Call of Duty franchise from PlayStation. However, this does not appear to be the case. In layman’s terms, despite Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, the enormous shooter series will continue to exist on the platforms it has always existed on. So that you can enjoy it on whichever console you prefer, Xbox or PlayStation.

According to Vice Chair and President of Microsoft, Brad Smith “We have been devoted to addressing the concerns of regulators, platform and game developers, and consumers since day one of this acquisition. Even after this agreement is approved, we will continue to ensure that Call of Duty is available on more platforms and to a greater number of consumers than ever before.
