Superstar Rajinikanth’s younger daughter Soundarya has filed for divorce from husband Ashwin Ramkumar in Chennai on Friday. The couple have filed for divorce by mutual consent on grounds of difference of opinion.
Soundarya married businessman Ashwin in 2010 and the two have been living separately for more than a year now.
The news of the judicial separation of the high-profile marriage first came on September 17 when Soundarya filed for divorce. The matter was then adjourned by the family court to December 23. Soundarya and Ashwin have a one-year old son Ved.
In September, Soundarya Rajinikanth took to Twitter and confirmed the separation:
News about my marriage is true. We have been separated for over a year & divorce talks are on. I request all to respect my family’s privacy.

Soundarya, started her career in the southern film industry as a graphic-designer and is best known for directing her father in the 2014 fantasy film Kochadaiiyaan.
She will be directing her brother-in-law and actor Dhanush’s Velai Illa Pattathari 2, which is a sequel to the blockbuster Tamil film of the same name.
