South Indian Releases in October 2025:October 2025 is shaping up to be wild for South Indian movies. No, seriously, it’s like every distributor release movies at the same time. They’re clearly gunning for those long holiday weekends: Dussehra, Diwali, random regional holidays, anything with an excuse to skip work and hit the theater.
South Indian Releases in October 2025
Here’s some messy, probably-too-enthusiastic rundown of eight movies which keep seeing pop up in industry chatter. Below there are eight notable theatrical releases across Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada.
1) Idli Kadai (Tamil): 1 October 2025
First out of the gate is Idli Kadai. Dhanush goes rural again, which, let’s be honest, is usually where he kills it. All the promo stuff is super folksy temple visits, small-town hype, the works.

If you’re betting, Dhanush in a village drama is usually money with families, as long as it doesn’t get too wierd. I’d watch the opening numbers, especially how it does outside the cities. Sometimes these films surprise you.
2) Bison (Tamil): 17 October 2025

Mid-October means Bison, starring Dhruv Vikram and Anupama Parameswaran. Mid-month is weird, everyone’s waiting for the big festival hits, so sometimes these sneak in and go big if they have a killer trailer or one viral song. Could be a sleeper, could be a flop, who knows?
3) Chiru Odela Cinema (Telugu): 9 October 2025
Chiranjeevi. Enough said? Any movie with him is a monster event for Telugu fans, and honestly, even my aunt in Mumbai will probably ask about it. The big question is always: does it break out beyond Andhra and Telangana? Watch how wide it opens, these star vehicles grab all the screens.
4) Funky (Telugu): 10 October 2025: South Indian Releases in October 2025
Vishwak Sen’s Funky drops right after Chiru’s film. He always aims for the youth crowd, think multiplex, not single screen. It’s super reliant on trailers, music drops, Insta buzz.

But going up against a Chiranjeevi release? It’ll need some wild marketing or a viral hook to stand out.
5) Kalamkaval (Malayalam): 9 October 2025
Malayalam cinema in October is usually about strong stories, not just stars showing off. Kalamkaval is one of those underdog releases if the reviews are fire, it’ll stick around. No massive opening expected, but sometimes these get legs if critics rave.
6) The Pet Detective (Malayalam): 10 October 2025
The name alone, The Pet Detective sounds like a fun watch, maybe a family flick or something quirky. Malayalam comedies or light thrillers can blow up if people are in the mood for something different. Advance bookings and early reviews will tell the story.
One-Punch Man Season 3: Release Date, Plot, Cast, and Streaming Info
7) Kantara: A Legend — Chapter 1 (Kannada): 2 October 2025
Kantara is back, or maybe it never left? Not sure if it’s a re-release or some fancy “chapter” rollout, but anything with the Kantara brand gets people talking, especially after the last one went national. Studios love to milk festival weekends with these, and if they dub it in enough languages, could go pan-India again.
8) Lilly (Kannada): 6 October 2025
Last up is Lilly, with Rachita Ram. This one’s sneaking in right after the big hitters, which is kinda smart families and regional audiences might be looking for something less hyped but more relatable. Only issue? If Kantara and other blockbusters hog all the screens, Lilly could get squeezed out.
So yeah, October’s looking stacked. Expect chaos, a few surprises, and probably a couple of sleeper hits folks will be raving about by the year end.
