SP MLA cries in UP assembly after robbed

Uttar Pradesh Assembly witnessed an unusual situation on Monday as a Samajwadi Party legislator, Kalpnath Paswan started crying in the middle of the session saying his Rs 10 lakh was stolen and if it was not recovered, he would “commit suicide”.

Informing that no FIR has been registered in the matter as yet, Paswan, said, “I am pleading with folded hands in the House. Where should I go, if I do not get justice from here. My money was stolen from a hotel one and a half months ago and I tried to lodge FIR but nobody registered my complaint… I will die…I am a very poor person…If my money is not recovered I will commit suicide.”

The MLA said the money was stolen from a hotel in Azamgarh and no FIR has been registered yet.

While several other MLAs consoled Paswan, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna said he will seek a report and ensure justice.

“If he wants to register FIR, it will be registered,” he said, adding the Home department and officers concerned have been directed to look into the matter.

Kalpnath Paswan is a Samajwadi party MLA from Mehnagar constituency in Azamgarh.
