In a major jolt to Samjawadi Party (SP) ahead of Assembly elections, its candidate from Kairana vidhan sabha seat Nahid Hasan has been arrested by the Uttar Pradesh police under the Gangster Act.
Nahid Hasan is also the serving legislator from Kairana assembly constituency.
UP police had charged the SP candidate cum MLA under the Gangster Act. Today, the city court remanded him to 14 days judicial custody. Two days ago, the party had announced him as party’s candidate from the same seat.

In February 2021, the police had booked SP MLA Nahid Hasan & his mother along with 40 others under the Gangster Act.
