Student’s MacBook M1 Order Turns into BoAt Speakers: Without having to leave the convenience of our homes, shopping online is a convenient way to acquire goods. In addition to various discounts and promotions, online purchasing is favoured by many consumers. However, there is the possibility of receiving a faulty/damaged product or something entirely different. This is exactly what occurred when a college student ordered a MacBook M1 from Flipkart but received an inexpensive boAt speaker instead.

Initially, Flipkart denied a refund for the laptop.

Atharva Khandelwal (@atharva_1913) shared on X his ordeal and purchasing nightmare with Flipkart. The purchaser disclosed that he purchased a MacBook M1 for Rs 76,000 from Flipkart. He anxiously anticipated the delivery, which had been scheduled for August 13 but was delayed.

Khandelwal claims that the delivery agent ignored his calls for two days, or until August 15. Due to persistent delays, he was eventually required to visit the Flipkart distribution centre to receive the product. Once the buyer reached the hub, things took an unexpected turn despite the fact that everything had appeared routine on the outskirts.

Prior to opening and inspecting the contents of the package, the buyer claims he was requested to share the OTP. Open Box Delivery is a service offered by Flipkart that enables customers to confirm they have received the product they ordered in the anticipated condition. Once the product is ready for delivery, it provides customers with an OTP. It must only be disclosed to the delivery agent if everything is deemed satisfactory.

Khandelwal claims that the delivery agent requested the OTP beforehand, citing protocol. The agent is said to have opened the product package himself. This is when they discovered there was no laptop inside the parcel, but rather a boAt speaker valued at Rs 3,000.

Fortunately, the client videotaped all significant events, including the unboxing of the product. In one of the recordings, Flipkart delivery hub employees acknowledge that the buyer received the incorrect item. Despite the evidence indicating that the company will assist the victim, this is not precisely the case.

Khandelwal claims to be a college student from a household unable to afford another laptop. He reveals that Flipkart initially denied his refund request on the basis of its “No Returns” policy. Additionally, the buyer shared his experience on Reddit, where he disclosed that Flipkart has eventually reached out to him. According to him, the online retailer is now prepared to issue the refund and has requested that you wait until August 28.

We trust the issue is resolved without further delay and as soon as possible. We would also like to caution our clients against sharing their OTP for open-box delivery until they are completely satisfied with the contents of the box. It is also recommended to film the entire unboxing procedure.
