This view, from almost 200 kilometres away, is rare and has caught the attention of many online. The skies were unusually clear after heavy rain, which washed away dust and pollution, giving everyone a perfect look at the distant peaks.
Residents of Jainagar were excited and quickly shared videos and pictures on social media. One user wrote, “After a long time, the majestic Himalayas are visible from the Bihar–Nepal border! A breathtaking reminder of nature’s beauty meeting the plains of Bihar.”

Why the View Happened?
Meteorologists explain that seeing the Himalayas from Bihar is unusual because pollution and haze usually block distant views. Heavy rainfall cleared the air and reduced particles, allowing the mountains to be visible from far away. A haze-free atmosphere and clean skies gave perfect conditions to see the peaks clearly.
Similar sightings were reported in 2020 when parts of northern India saw the Himalayas during the COVID-19 lockdown because reduced human activity lowered pollution levels. Sharing a video on X, a user noted, “When people of Singhwahini village, Bihar, saw Everest from their own houses. They say this happened after decades.”

Jainagar
Jainagar is located along the Kamla River and is known for its culture and scenic surroundings. Its location allows residents to see the Himalayan peaks change colors during sunrise and sunset.
Early morning shows the mountains in copper, gold, and silver, while evenings turn them from silver to gold to bronze. This rare spectacle gives people a close feeling of being near the mighty Himalayas, even from hundreds of kilometres away.
