Su from So Malayalam Release: The thrilling Kannada horror-comedy Su From So (yes, that’s really the name), cooked up by JP Thuminad and Raj B Shetty’s Lighter Buddha Films, is finally rolling into Kerala. It already tore it up in Karnataka, so now the Malayalam crowd gets a piece thanks to Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films snapping up distribution rights. Not every day you see a Kannada flick going pan-South like this.
Su from So Malayalam Release
Kerala people, circle August 1, 2025, on your calendars. That’s when Su From So hits Malayalam screens everywhere. The OG Kannada version dropped July 25 and no surprise people immediately started clamoring for a Malayalam dub. Wayfarer Films made it Insta-official, so this is happening.
Storyline
Picture this: a super chill little village on the Karnataka coast, Marlur. Outta nowhere, Sulochana from Someshwara (aka “Su from So”) starts haunting this random dude, Ashoka. Cue all hell breaking loose ghosts, goofy villagers, food, rituals, the works. It’s like someone mashed up Bhool Bhulaiyaa with a coastal potboiler and sprinkled in some biting satire. Critics are loving it, calling it “natural comedy” with actual social bite.
Honestly? Kerala’s always had a soft spot for small-town stories and local flavor. Plus, the cast Shaneel Gautham, Deepak Panaje, Sandhya Arakere, and JP Thuminad himself keeps it real. You’ll probably spot some familiar vibes if you’re into Malayalam rural tales. Oh, and Dulquer’s stamp of approval? That’s no small thing his crew apparently went all out to bring this one over after some test screenings had everyone buzzing.

Su from So Malayalam Release: Previews and Overall Hype
This is a first Wayfarer Films, Dulquer’s own distribution gig, has never pushed a Kannada movie in Kerala. They saw the hype in Karnataka and figured, why not? Dulquer’s been hyping it up on socials, calling it a “proud moment.” Gotta admit, it’s pretty cool seeing this kind of cross-border cinema love.

Before the big launch, Su From So did these paid sneak peeks in Mangalore, Shivamogga, Mysore, and Bengaluru. People lost their minds 75,000 tickets on day one is nuts. Some theatres even threw in those crack-of-dawn shows usually saved for the big stars. Word-of-mouth did the heavy lifting here.
So if you’re in Kerala and want something totally bonkers think coastal chaos, supernatural pranks, and satire that actually lands go watch Su From So on August 1. It’s not your usual horror-comedy, but that’s kinda the point. Dulquer’s got your back, Karnataka already loved it, and honestly, when’s the last time you saw a Kannada ghost comedy take over Kerala? Don’t Miss it!
