The Prime Minister, while referring to Azad’s contribution to the politics and the House, said: “You are retiring from the House, but I will not let you retire and my doors are open for you and will need your contribution and advice.”
Senior Congress leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad and Anand Sharma will be participating in the meeting. Both the leaders were signatories to the letter which had demanded visible and effective leadership in the party.
His remarks came after the CWC meeting on Monday witnessed volatile scenes with several senior leaders, including Azad, even offered to resign.
Congress sources said that Rahul Gandhi at the CWC said, “What was the reason to write a letter when Sonia Gandhi was admitted in hospital and when the party was fighting the political crisis in Rajasthan.”
