Hours after Karnataka minister, DK Shivakumar was raided by taxmen on Wednesday morning, leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad has said that the government should conduct raids on BJP people who were offering Rs 15 crore to Congress lawmakers to lure them before Rajya Sabha polls.

“Conduct raids on residences of people from BJP who are offering Rs 15 crores,” he said.

“This is a targeted timing as minister and his cousins are facilitating stay of Congress leaders,” said senior congress leader, Anand Sharma in Rajya Sabha. “It is now becoming a trend to blatantly misuse powers of the state,” he added.

Income Tax officials searched Shivakumar’s home on Wednesday morning. Rs 5 crore cash was recovered from the Delhi residence of Shivakumar, said officials.

Reports are also there that the Eagleton Golf Resort where 42 Congress lawmakers are staying since last week was also raided. But, finance minister, Arun Jaitely has clarified it saying that “No search took place in resort, no MLA besides one particular Karnataka minister was searched.”

Shivakumar was in charge of the stay of the lawmakers, who were flown to Bengaluru late on Friday. The Congress has alleged that its lawmakers in Gujarat were being intimidated. They also said that their lawmakers were being offered Rs 15 crore in return for support to the BJP in the Rajya Sabha polls on 8 August.
