Tamil Nadu: AIADMK general secretary Sasikala may take over as CM

In a major shift, AIADMK general secretary Sasikala Natarajan may take over from O Panneerselvam as Chief Minister on February 8 or 9.  Panneerselvam was appointed the CM just after the demise of J Jayalalithaa in December.

Now, all eyes are on the AIADMK MLAs meet on Sunday when a major decision on this is likely to be taken.

Reportedly, Sasikala had appointed former minister KA Sengottaiyan and former mayor Saidai S Duraisamy as organization secretaries on Friday. This is seen as a step to quash dissidents within the party.

She had also proclaimed the removal of Ambattur MLA V Alexander as AIADMK’s MGR Youth Wing secretary.

“This is an official matter… We have an MLAs’ meeting tomorrow… after that some decision will be taken,” AIADMK spokesperson CR Saraswathi reportedly told CNN-News18.
