With fuel prices skyrocketing from past few weeks, Tamil Nadu is no stranger to the same fury, where petrol and diesel prices are Rs 85.15 per litre and Rs 77.94 per litre. Making the best use of current market values, a group of friends decided to give 5 litres of petrol as a wedding gift to their friend who recently tied the knot in Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu.

As reported in Tamil television channel, Puthiya Thalaimurai, the young man and his newly-wed wife were greeting guests when the groom’s friends trooped in and gave him the unusual gift.  The groom graciously received the gift amid laughter all around.

Fuel prices touched yet another high mark on Monday September 17, after rates were revised for the fifth straight day on account of rising global crude oil prices and the depreciating Indian Rupee. Petrol price was increased by 15 paise per litre in the national capital Delhi crossing Rs 82 per litre mark to Rs 86.06. Similarly, diesel price was hiked by 6 paise per litre in Delhi, reaching up to Rs 73.78.

Rising fuel prices have become a concern for the public as it has disturbed their monthly budget. The rise in fuel prices has now started reflecting in daily consumption items by making them costlier.

BJP president Amit Shah on Saturday had said, “Both the party and the government are concerned over the rising prices of petrol and diesel. The government will soon come out with a stand.”
