Tamil Nadu Finance minister and interim chief minister O Panneerselvam will head a Cabinet meeting at the Secretariat on Wednesday. This will be the first such meeting since Acting Governor Ch. Vidyasagar Rao allotted all portfolios held by chief minister J Jayalalithaa to him. The Cauvery issue will be one of the main points of discussion.
Along with Cauvery, local body election, appointment of special officers for governing local bodies and upcoming by poll in three constituencies is the likely to be subjects of discussion in the meeting. He was allotted all portfolios after the Tamil Nadu chief minister was hospitalised on September 22 and has been admitted since then.
While announcing the transfer of portfolio Governor Vidyasagar Rao said that it was done under the oral advice of CM Jayalalithaa as he has handled the affairs on two occasions in the past too.
It has been more than 26 days since the hospitalisation of CM Jayalalithaa and the opposition has time and again demanded her pictures to be released. Rumours about her health have been spreading into the state and till now eight people have been arrested in 50 cases filed against ‘rumour mongering.’
