Social media is the new battleground and the space where opinions are shaped, made and moulded. While political parties and their leaders indulging in open battles with their twitter handles is nothing new, the most recent spats are witnessed between ‘trollers’ or politically motivated people under the garb of ‘trolls.’
The most recent spat was one between three handles- @BhaktHunters, @AAPTardHunters and @RoflGandhi_ . It all began with a joke on Lorn Krishna that was made by the handle @RoflGandhi_ which is an immensely amusing and popular account with huge following. The joke though well received by many became the target of a group called @AAPTardHunter which is strongly speculated to be created by BJP supporters. Through mass reporting, they managed to get the account blocked as it had hurt “the religious sentiment” of the people.

After the account was suspended from twitter through mass reporting, another account called @LMAOGandhi was created by the same person behind @RoflGandhi_ and within an hour it garnered more than 1000 followers. The same fate greeted the new account as it was also suspended. Even though both the accounts have been restored but this practice to malign people on social media and carry out such attacks is not new because a lot of abusive BJP handles (have been suspended through mass reporting by @BhaktHunters and hence @AAPTardHunters has been created as a retaliatory tool.
