Bastar: Two jawans of the Border Security Force (BSF) were killed and another was injured in a Maoist encounter in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district in the wee hours of Sunday.
The injured jawan was airlifted to Raipur for treatment and his condition is now reported to be stable
Reinforcement was sent to the spot and the bodies of deceased were brought to BSF’ headquarters in Pakhanjore, Kanker. Senior BSF and police officers rushed to the spot of the incident.
“The encounter took place at around 3.45 am on Sunday near Mahala Camp of BSF. A team of BSF jawans was returning after carrying out an anti-Maoist operation in the jungles of Mahala,” said superintendent of police (SP), Kanker, KL Dhruve.
When the team reached near Barkot village, Maoists started firing, in which Lokender Singh and Mukdhiyar Singh, hailing from Rajasthan and Punjab respectively, were killed, he added.
“Constable Sandeep Dey was injured in the encounter and airlifted to Raipur,” said Dhruve.
