Unlocking $500 Monthly Payment: In Tacoma, Washington, about one in four families has trouble making ends meet. The Growing Resilience in Tacoma (GRIT) project was made to help them. Eligible families will receive $500 a month for a year from the local government and the United Way of Pierce County through this program.
To assist low-income families in the area, the City of Tacoma and United Way of Pierce County (UWPC) created GRIT. The program aims to improve the mental health, financial stability, and safety of low-income families.
The program will start in April of this year and go on until June 2025. The program’s applications started on March 1. At the end of the registration time, 175 families will be picked at random to receive the financial help.

UWPC says that people who want to join the program must meet four requirements. Being the only parent of children up to 17 years old or up to 21 years old if the children have a disability is the first one.
You must also live in one of these zip codes: 8404, 98405, 98408, 98409, 98418, 98444, or 98445. You must also meet UWPC’s standards for having limited assets and limited income while working.

Finally, people who want to apply must make between 100% and 200% of the Federal Poverty Line. In other words, a two-person family must make between $20,440 and $40,880 a year.
People who want to apply shall visit https://www.uwpc.org/grit-20-guaranteed-income-project. You can fill out an application in English, Spanish, Russian, Ukrainian, Chinese, Vietnamese, or Cambodian.
On March 20, applicants will be told how their application is going. Those who have been accepted will start getting their stimulus checks in April.
