A new development emerged on Thursday September 13, in the Maharajganj Madrasa National Anthem case. Advocate Manoj Singh filed a bail plea of the accused maulana following which, the advocated faced a furious opposition from other lawyers.

The district advocates were seen in aggression and even vandalised Singh’s chamber. Lawyers casket, furniture and documents were destroyed by opposing lawyers over the bail application of the accused maulana who had allegedly opposed singing national anthem during the Independence Day celebration at the madrasa.

On receiving information about violence and disorder inside court premises, a large number of police force was deployed on the spot to calm the dispute.

The petition filled by advocate Manoj Singh was being strongly opposed by other advocates. The district lawyers said that maulana hailed anti-national act. “Opposing national anthem is to oppose the nation. In such a case, no person should be granted bail and no advocate should defend such a case.” The lawyers further said that no lawyer will contest his case and those who defend anti-nationals, will face big scale resentment.

The Uttar Pradesh government had cancelled the recognition of the Arabia Ahle Sunnat Girls College, the UP Madrasa sunning since 2007, for allegedly opposing the singing of national anthem after flag hoisting during Independence Day celebrations.
