The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has declared the final results of the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2025, recommending 958 candidates for appointment to key positions in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and other central services. Anuj Agnihotri secured the All India Rank (AIR) 1 in one of the country’s most competitive examinations.

The results were announced on March 6, 2026, following the completion of the written Civil Services Main Examination held in August 2025 and the Personality Test (interviews) conducted between December 2025 and February 2026.

The full merit list, including candidates’ names, roll numbers and ranks, has been published on the official UPSC website at upsc.gov.in.

According to the official press note, the commission has recommended 958 candidates for appointment across various services. The category-wise breakup includes 317 candidates from the General category, 104 from the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), 306 from the Other Backward Classes (OBC), 158 from the Scheduled Castes (SC), and 73 from the Scheduled Tribes (ST). The list also includes candidates from Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) categories.

The Government of India had reported 1,087 vacancies to be filled through the Civil Services Examination 2025. These include 180 vacancies for the IAS, 55 for the IFS, 150 for the IPS, 507 for Central Services Group ‘A’, and 195 for Group ‘B’ services. Out of the total vacancies, 42 posts were reserved for candidates belonging to the PwBD category.

UPSC has also prepared a consolidated reserve list of 258 candidates across categories. Additionally, the candidature of 348 recommended candidates has been kept provisional, while the results of two candidates have been withheld, according to the commission.

Candidates can access and download the result PDF directly from the official UPSC website. The commission has also stated that the marks of candidates will be uploaded on the website within 15 days of the result announcement.

The Civil Services Examination remains one of India’s toughest competitive exams, attracting lakhs of aspirants each year. Successful candidates go on to occupy critical roles in governance, policymaking and administration across the country, forming the backbone of India’s civil services system.
