The US State Department has notified that the USA is looking forward to host Prime Minister Narendra Modi later this month.
“We look forward to having the (Indian) Prime Minister here in Washington – I believe it’s later this month,” State Department Spokesperson, Heather Nauert, said at a news conference on Thursday.
PM Modi is expected to visit Washington at the invitation of US President Donald Trump, for a meeting at the White House later in June. Actual dates of the meeting are not confirmed as yet.
This would be Modi’s first trip to the US since Trump took over as the President of the US.
However, Mr Modi had met Trump’s successor, President Barack Obama, eight times. The Indian Prime Minister had travelled to the US three times and Mr Obama made a historic trip to India to be the chief guest at the Republic Day celebrations in 2015.
