It has become very obvious that February 14 is celebrated as Valentine’s Day but what people don’t know is that this day is also observed as Matra Pitra Pujan Diwas. Yes, you read it right, all the singles now won’t need to feel sad anymore, as they have also got an occasion to celebrate on Feb 14.
Matra Pitra Pujan Diwas or parents worship day also falls on Feb 14. The idea behind this day was given by spiritual leader Asaram Bapu who is currently serving a jail term. He started this tradition in the year 2007. The first Parents’ Worship Day or Matru Pitru Poojan Diwas was done at Sant Shri Asharamji Gurukul, Ahmedabad. People gathered with their parents to mark this day. In 2015, it was declared as an official celebration by the state-led government Bhartiya Janata Party in Chhattisgarh. It is a holy initiative by Asaram Bapu which encourages students to worship their parents, with an aim to show more respect towards one’s parents.
