Veteran Bihar Congress leader and former Assembly speaker Sadanand Singh passed away on Wednesday morning.

Condoling the demise of Sadanand Singh, Bihar Congress chief Madan Mohan Jha said a “political era has come to an end”.

“Sadanand Singh ji, a well-known leader of Bihar, a warrior of Congress, passed away today. A political era has come to an end. Your smiling face will always be remembered. May god rest his soul. And give strength to his family to bear this unbearably sad time. Om Shanti,” Madan Mohan Jha posted on Twitter.

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav condoled the death of Sadanand Singh and said the senior Congress leader was a “skilled politician”.

“I express my deepest condolences on the passing away of senior Congress leader and former minister Shri Sadanand Singh ji. He had a long socio-political experience. He was a skilled politician. I pray to God to give peace to his soul and strength to the bereaved family members to bear the loss,” Tejashwi Yadav tweeted.

Sadanand Singh served as an MLA for record nine times from the Kahalgaon seat in Bihar’s Bhagalpur district. Singh was the Speaker of the Bihar Legislative Assembly from 2000 to 2005. He had earlier served as the Bihar minister for irrigation and energy.
