Veteran music composer Khayyam Hashmi hospitalised, condition critical

Well-known music director-composer Mohammed Zahur Khayyam Hashmi who is affectionately termed as Khayyam is reportedly in a very critical condition due to infection in lungs and has been admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of Sujay Hospital as informed by BN Tiwari, the President of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees Union.

The veteran music composer is a recipient of Sangeet Natak Akademi Award and Padma Bhushan and is known for his sensational compositions in films like ‘Kabhie Kabhie’ and ‘Umrao Jaan.’

Khayyam began his career at the tender age of 17 in the city of Ludhiana. He got his first big break in blockbuster ‘Umrao Jaan’ through which he established himself as a prominent name in the Bollywood industry. He is a National Award and Filmfare Award winner.
