Vivekanand Oberoi is an Indian film actor who made his film debut with Ram Gopal Varma’s Company (2002), which won him two Filmfare Awards. He was born in Hyderabad, Telangana, to a Punjabi father Suresh Oberoi, a veteran Bollywood character actor, and Yashodhara Oberoi, who is from a Tamil family.

At an actors’ workshop in London, he was spotted by the director of New York University who took Vivek to New York, where he completed his master’s degree in film acting. Vivek also worked as a scriptwriter in India.

As the actor turns a year older, here are lesser-known facts to know about Vivek Oberoi:

  • Vivek has enticed the audience by starring in the half-a-dozen film, dating back to the early 2000s.
  • The actor is also known for his philanthropic work and has been associated with the less privileged for years now.
  • In 2002, his performance in his debut film ‘Company’ won him Filmfare awards for Best Male Debut and Best Supporting Actor.
  • In 2011, Vivek produced Watch Indian Circus which went on to win the Audience Choice Award for Best Film from among 3000 films worldwide in the 16th Busan Film festival.
  • Very few of us will know that Vivek also received the Red and White Bravery Award in 2006 because of his laudable effort for rebuilding a village which was worse hit by the Tsunami
  • The Yashodhara Oberoi Foundation (YOF) is another initiative which is run by the Oberoi family.
  • In the personal arena, Vivek is happily married to Priyanka Alva since 2010 and is blessed with two kids.
  • His short-lived romance with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had been the point of focus for a long time.
  • He considers Kareena Kapoor Khan as her inspiration for adopting a vegetarian diet.
  • Vivek Oberoi’s company, KARRM Infrastructure, has donated 25 flats in the Thane district of Maharashtra to the families of Central Reserve Police Force officers killed in action. In all, Vivek has donated about ₹ 3 million and helped raise ₹ 25 million.
