According to reports, Parag Desai, the executive director of Gujarat Tea Processors and Packers Limited, known for its Wagh Bakri brand of tea, died on October 22, a week after he was attacked by stray canines and sustained injuries. He was 49 years old.

According to a report by Ahmedabad Mirror, Desai was rushed to the private Shelby Hospital on October 15 after slipping outside his residence in Ahemadabad while attempting to fend off stray dogs.

The following day, he was transferred to Zydus Hospital for surgery, where he died of a cerebral hemorrhage on October 22, according to the report.

Desai, who received his MBA from Long Island University in the United States, oversaw the sales, marketing, and export divisions for the company and was a tea expert.

Desai was also responsible for the Group’s expansion into Tea Lounges and e-commerce. In addition to this, he was active on industry platforms, such as the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), and international organizations.

Desai was the fourth generation of the tea company’s entrepreneurial family. His wife Vidisha and daughter Parisha survive him.
