Both films managed to cross the 100 crore mark in only two days. Rajinikanth got the biggest start of his career with Coolie, while War 2 is quickly catching up and is not too far behind in numbers.

On its second day, Coolie made around Rs 53.50 crore net across India in all languages, as per early numbers from Sacnilk. This takes the total earnings of the movie in India to Rs 118.50 crore in just two days. Coolie showed strong viewership in all languages with 80.70% occupancy in Tamil, 54.60% in Hindi and 85.42% in Telugu on Friday, August 15. The film already crossed Rajinikanth’s earlier record of Rs 60 crore opening from 2.0, making it his biggest start so far.
War 2 numbers keep growing
War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, is also holding strong. The movie earned nearly Rs 56.50 crore net in India on its second day across languages, which makes its two-day total Rs 108 crore. The spy action film had an overall 51.52% occupancy in Hindi, 54.85% in Tamil and 68.99% in Telugu on Friday. Even though Coolie is ahead by a few crores, War 2 is showing very steady growth and could narrow the gap in the coming days.

Coolie has a star-packed cast with Rajinikanth in the lead, along with Nagarjuna, Soubin Shahir, Upendra, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj and Aamir Khan. The film also features Rachita Ram, Reba Monica John, Junior MGR, Kanna Ravi, Monisha Blessy and Kaali Venkat in important supporting roles. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the story follows a mysterious man who rises against a corrupt syndicate that exploits poor workers in a port town.
War 2 is the sixth film in the YRF Spy Universe and works as a sequel to the 2019 blockbuster War. It is written by Shridhar Raghavan and Abbas Tyrewala. The film stars Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR and Kiara Advani in the lead roles, with Ashutosh Rana and Anil Kapoor playing key characters. War 2 released in theatres on August 14, 2025, and fans of action films rushed to watch it.
