Sadhan Mandal from Nadiya, West Bengal, who was serving life imprisonment, has been termed as innocent by the Calcutta High Court. The lower court had sentenced the life imprisonment three years ago for allegedly misbehaving with his wife and inciting her to commit suicide.

After a petition was filled by Mandal, challenging the lower court’s verdict, another investigation was called in. A division bench of Judge Jayalalaya Bagchi termed him innocent on Wednesday.

According to Mandal’s advocate Kallol Mandal, the alleged wife died in an accident after coming under the running train. However, no complaint was lodged. Moreover, the railway police also said that the woman was mentally depressed.

There was no fact to prove the incident in the lower court.
