Jamshedpur: A 30-year-old Rizwana Khatoon who was pregnant and lost her child even before its birth due to delay in getting medical assistance as she was asked by the Jamshepur’s MGM hospital staff to clean up her blood after she reached the hospital on Thursday.
Rizwana wrote a letter to Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren on Sunday, further alleged that, had she been given medical assistance on time, she would not have lost her child.
In conversation with Newsd, Rizwana Khatoon’s brother Munir said that his sister is in a terrible condition and is going through a trauma of losing her child even before its birth.
Munir said that he left her sister for 15 minutes, as he rushed back home to get her clothes as she was all in blood when all of the incidents took place which is recorded in the CCTV footage. He further added to it that when he reached back to the hospital he was panicked by seeing his sister Rizwana in this condition and he immediately rushed and took her to T Khan, a nursing home in Mango.
The nursing home declared that she have lost her child and they immediately took some steps of surgery to save the woman.
In the letter, Rizwana claimed that she was abused for being a Muslim and was beaten with slippers when she failed to clean up her blood. She also alleged that had she was given medical assistance on time, her child would have survived. Rizwana Khatun wrote that as it took her considerable time to clean the floor, she could not get medical care on time, resulting in the miscarriage of her child.
As she was in intense pain due to the cleaning job and also assault by medical staff, she immediately rushed to a private hospital where the doctors told that the child was dead, she informed. The woman has requested the CM to take appropriate action against the culprits so that such incidents are not repeated in the future.
Jamshedpur Deputy Commissioner has ordered a probe by forming a team asking it to submit a report within 48 hours.
“A three-member team comprising Deputy Superintendent of MGM, Senior Magistrate of District Administration and Officer in Charge of concerned Police Station, asking them to investigate the matter and report within 48 hours,” said the Deputy Commissioner. The team was formed immediately after the letter was received on Sunday evening, he added.
