The Facebook-owned messaging platform celebrated the completion of 10 years of its existence on Monday with a video they shared in a Tweet.

In the first tweet since August 2016, WhatsApp shared a video boasting of instances in everyday’s life when it came to people’s rescue, whether it was spreading the word about their business or the story of their kid’s first steps in school.

WhatsApp was founded by Brian Acton and Jan Koum in the year 2009 and saw a major success by 2014 when it reached as many as 500M users. 3 years later, the app had more than a billion monthly users.

In the latest of the array of features introduced by WhatsApp, a Picture-in-Picture mode was added.

Notably, the picture-in-picture feature has been available to WhatsApp for Android users for some time now and this will be an excellent addition for desktop users.

The app has been busy testing out other features like fingerprint lock, Dark mode etc. for its users.

WhatsApp has played smartly when it comes to bringing new features for its users. Over the years, various changes have been introduced to the platform. We all remember the time WhatsApp gave the user the option to limit the visibility of their “last seen”. Later, WhatsApp boosted security by adding the layer of end-to-end encryption.

The site with 1500 million monthly active users(Dec 2017) after introducing GIFs had added the feature of stickers in October last year.
