The Supreme Court of India has decided to hold off on ruling on a case concerning potential discrimination against a Parsi woman, pending the verdict of a nine-judge constitution bench currently deliberating on broader gender discrimination issues in religious practices.

The case, brought by Dina Budhraja, addresses allegations of gender bias after she was barred from participating in certain religious rituals at the Nagpur Parsi Panchayat after her marriage to a Hindu man.

Budhraja maintains her Parsi faith and seeks equal treatment as her male counterparts, including access to Zoroastrian religious ceremonies. The Supreme Court has issued notices to relevant authorities and will await the outcome of the larger constitutional inquiry before proceeding.
