A 32-year-old woman gave birth to five babies at a Community Health Center (CHC) in the Suratganj area of Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh. Out of these, there are girls while two are boys. According to reports, nurses at the CHC facilitated the normal delivery of all the babies.

Later, the woman and her babies were referred to Barabanki district hospital. Anita, a resident of the Kutloopur area of the district, has delivered babies for the second time.

Gautam, the husband of Anita, said that she gave birth to a baby after having labour pain. She was then rushed to the CHC Suratganj with the help of an ambulance.

She gave birth to four babies at the community health centre at 8 am.

The woman was immediately shifted to the District Women’s Hospital. Dr. Indrabhuvan Tiwari, a pediatrician at the District Women’s Hospital, said that Anita gave birth to 7-month old premature babies.

A child has a head injury. The others are fine but due to premature birth, there is a possibility of them not having full development of blood vessels, brain, lungs, eyes, and heart.

All the children have low birth weight and therefore they have been kept in NICU where are doctors are continuously monitoring their health.

Doctors said that babies are underweight. Two of them weigh 1100 grams while two are just 900 grams. The fifth one weighs just 800 grams.

In October last year, a 25-year-old Jaipur woman had given birth to five babies. Four of them had survived, while one was still birth.
