In yet another crime against women, a 20-year-old woman was allegedly raped inside a parked car in south Delhi’s Moti Bagh by its driver who had offered to drop her home in Noida on Wednesday night. The man was arrested hours after the incident and has been sent to Tihar jail.

The driver, Avneesh, picked up the woman from near Jor Bagh Metro station and drove her for two hours before taking her to a secluded spot (two km from his house) and forcing himself upon her, she claimed. She lost consciousness at 1 am and the man left her in the car for about half an hour to go home, allegedly to get a blanket. When she regained consciousness at about 1.30 am, she found herself alone and used the opportunity to escape, she claimed.

Cops said they would would recommend trial of the accused in a fast-track court.

The woman was spotted by two policemen on patrol who found her roaming alone and took her to hospital for an examination. The two policemen also alerted the South Campus police station.

The car belongs to the son of a CISF constable who had employed the driver a week ago. It also had an expired MHA entry sticker on the windshield and police have booked the owner, Mohit Panwar, for illegal use of the sticker.

Panwar claimed he had procured the stickers from his brother who worked at Krishi Bhawan. Police sources said Panwar would also be jointly interrogated by the intelligence agencies.

Panwar claimed he had employed Avneesh a week ago to drive the car as a cab and divide the earnings on a 60-40 basis.

According to the woman’s statement, she had come to south Delhi from her home near Greater Noida to look for ajob on Wednesday. She earlier worked as an office assistant after finishing Class XII but had quit after getting married. She had separated from her husband some time ago and had decided to work again. On Wednesday evening, the woman reached the office, in Green Park, but found it locked.
