Xiaomi Redmi 12: Xiaomi has now unveiled the Redmi 12 following numerous disclosures of its specifications. According to Xiaomi’s Thai website, the Redmi 12 utilises MediaTek’s 2020-released midrange chipset Helio G88. As a point of comparison, the Helio G88 features two ARM Cortex-A75 CPU cores rated at 2 GHz, six Cortex-A55 cores limited to 1.8 GHz, and a Mali-G52 MP2 GPU that reaches a maximum of 1 GHz.

Xiaomi accompanies its midrange chipset with LPDDR4x RAM, eMMC 5.1 flash storage, and a 5,000 mAh battery that can be recharged at up to 18 W. In addition, the Redmi 12 features a 6.79-inch IPS display with a resolution of 2,460 x 1,080 pixels and a refresh rate of 90 Hz. To reduce power consumption, the handset’s display refresh rate can be adjusted between 36 Hz, 48 Hz, 60 Hz, and 90 Hz.
The Redmi 12 also includes a MicroSD card reader for up to 1 TB of storage expansion, a 50 MP primary camera, an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle camera, a 2 MP macro camera, and an 8 MP front-facing camera. The device also runs MIUI 14 based on Android 13, unlike other recent Xiaomi midrange handsets such as the POCO X5. Redmi 12 is anticipated to cost €199 in the Eurozone, although Xiaomi has only announced it in Thailand.
In Thailand, the Redmi 12 is available for THB 5,299 ($153) with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. A lesser 4 GB RAM option should also be available, but none of Xiaomi’s official retailers currently stock it. The same holds true for Xiaomi’s 256 GB model, which is also described on its website. Regardless, the Redmi 12 is available in Midnight Black, Sky Blue, and Polar Silver.
