Young woman ends life after hurling kids off building in Mumbai

In a shocking incident, a woman on the pretext of buying an apartment visited a building at Mumbra in Thane, but instead hurled her children from the 15th floor before jumping to death at 11 am on Sunday. The victim, Shireen Khan allegedly killed herself over household matters.

The 27-year-old went to Dosti Apartment at Shibli Nagar. She told watchman that she wish to see flats as she wants to buy one ‘on the spot’. However, after reaching there, she first hurled her son, Tausif, 7, and then her daughter Amreen, 4. Later, she committed suicide.

Her son Tausif however survived, but sustained severe injuries and was admitted to JJ Hospital.

The victim’s husband repairs air conditioner in a private company. As per the police, the family was facing financial troubles.

“Shireen visited the sales office to enquire about flats in the building. However, she did not fill the form, claiming that she did not know English. She promised to return with her family,” said S Patil, inspector, Shildaighar police station as per a report in HT.

“There are two towers at the spot where the incident took place. The construction of one has been completed while the second is still under construction. She threw her children from the second tower. Tausif initially fell on metal sheet and then rolled on to the ground,” added Patil.
