Youth drowned during idol immersion in Odisha’ Jajpur

Gurugram: 18-year-old drowns in canal during Ganesh idol immersion

In an unfortunate incident, a youth drowned while immersing an idol of Goddess Durga in a water body at Pahanga village, Rasulpur block, Jajpur district on Wednesday, October 9, evening.

The deceased has been identified as Debasish Jena – resident of Bhandaripokhari area under Bhadrak district. He was pursuing his studies at Vyasanagar Autonomous College.

According to The Odisha Times report, Debasish slipped into the river during the idol immersion and later drowned. A firefighting team rushed to spot and launched a rescue operation.

The fire tenders traced Debasish after hours and took him to the Jajpur Road hospital where the doctors declared him “brought dead”.
