A youth suspected to be having an affair was allegedly beaten up and was forced to drink urine by a group of people under Chauhatan police station in Barmer district. The police came into action as the video of the incident went viral over the internet on Tuesday, showing the youth tied to a tree being thrashed and humiliated.
The police found out that the video which was doing rounds on social media was three days old.
The youth, who was suspected to be having an affair was tied to a tree, his hair was cut, and was made to drink urine after being brutally thrashed.
Later, both the parties came to an agreement to not take the matter to the police. However the cops sprung into action after the video went viral and lodged a case against the accused persons who is said to be from Bhil community. Chauhatan dy SP Ajit Singh is investigating the case.
The Barmer SP Anand Sharma said that Chauhatan SHO Pema Ram on July 28 during patrolling saw the viral video. He said that in the police investigation, it came to light that the matter was that of an illicit affair.
When the police asked the victim’s side to lodge a case it was told that both parties had come to an agreement and they do not want to lodge any case. On this, police based on the video, lodged the case under Section 249, 323 and 342 and started investigation.
It is reported that soon the victim’s medical examination will be conducted and the arrest will be made based on the video.
