Amidst a pool of expectations, the star-studded movie Zero embraced the big screens on Friday. 5965 screens which included 1585 international ones saw Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif come together.
The movie received mixed reviews as some backed it for its music while others criticised the very foundations of the story. The first day though is expected to fare above average as many flocked to book the tickets for the show well in advance. The movie also had a phenomenal marketing strategy as even before it came to the theatres Bauua was already a household name.
The movie which has special appearances by Sridevi, Alia Bhatt, Juhi Chawla, Rani Mukerji, Kajol, Salman Khan, Karishma Kapoor and R Madhavan is also said to be affected by fake reviews and online leaks which may call for early curtains from the Box Office.
If experts are to be believed Zero should earn around Rs 15-20 crores on its Friday release day.
Though the film has some advantage going into the next week of holidays and might make a decent earning despite facing negative reviews.
Earlier, an entertainment journalist had given the movie 4 stars, praising Aanand L Rai’s work and the acting of the lead Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif. He had said, “On the whole, #Zero encompasses romance and myriad emotions most wonderfully, besides bravura performances and a popular musical score from #AjayAtul. A film that touches the core of your heart. A film that’s definitely worthy of a watch. Not to be missed!”.
In the last three years, Aanand L Rai produced many movies but this would the first he directed in those years. The last film he directed was Tanu Weds Manu in 2015.
