Jammu, Sep 27 (IANS) A total of 1,103 nomination papers filed for the Jammu Municipal Corporation, seven municipal committees of Jammu district and for other municipal committees in Jammu region were found valid on Thursday.
Of these, 476 nominations were filed for Jammu Municipal Corporation, 327 for seven municipal committees and 300 for other districts of Jammu region.
Of the 476 nomination papers found valid for Jammu Municipal Corporation, 335 were filed by males and 141 by females.
A total of 155 candidates from national parties, 21 from state parties and 400 independents have filed the nominations, officials said.
The last date for withdrawal of candidature is Friday.
Polling will take place on October 8 and the vote count on October 20.
