1300 Property Tax Rebate: The Minnesota Department of Revenue is reissuing 128,000 one-time tax refund checks that were uncashed and expired last year. These checks are now valid for two years and have been sent to the latest addresses on record.
In May 2023, a new law resulted in the release of roughly 2.1 million Direct Tax Rebate payments totalling approximately $1 billion. These refunds are based on 2021 income tax or property tax refund returns.
Initially, payments were made by paper check or direct deposit in August and September. Checks that remained uncashed were reissued in November and December, and any remaining checks were reissued in February and March.
