Hyderabad: Two people have been arrested for posting objectionable content on social media for linking Jagan Reddy’s sister, Sharmila Reddy with Bahubali actor Prabhas.

The two youths were involved in posting derogatory comments on videos posted online by someone. They linked the YSR Congress party chief Jagan Reddy’s sister with the actor. The police arrested the two people by tracking their IP address.

YS Sharmila had lodged a complaint with the Hyderabad police chief on January 14 and denied rumours linked her to the actor. Her husband Anil Kumar accompanied her to the commissioner’s office.

Jagan Reddy had alleged that N Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party (TDP) was behind spreading such rumours and she also termed the incident as character assassination.

“I have natural reasons to accuse the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) that they are behind this mud-slinging,” YS Sharmila said.

An investigation was held where an MCA student from Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur was arrested on Saturday and another young man from Telangana’s Mancherial was arrested, senior police officer KCS Raghu Vir told.

Denying the allegations made by Sharmila on TDP, Andhra Pradesh minister Paritala Sunitha said the TDP has nothing to do with the social media posts and that the party will condemn such derogatory posts not only against YS Sharmila but also against any other woman.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has also denied the allegations made by her and also criticised her for filing a complaint in Telangana police instead of Andhra Pradesh.

The police said that we are suspecting more people to be involved in it and further investigation will be held.
