2023 World Series: The Texas Rangers defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks in Game 1 of the 2023 World Series on Friday at Globe Life Field. The Rangers overcame a two-run deficit in the ninth inning when Corey Seager homered to tie the contest. In the eleventh inning, Adolis Garca ended the contest with a walk-off home run. In Saturday’s Game 2 on the road, the D-backs will attempt to regain their footing after a loss in Game 1.

The D-backs scored five runs against Nathan Eovaldi to take a 5-3 lead. Both Corbin Carroll and Ketel Marte continued their impressive postseason play. Carroll, the presumed National League Rookie of the Year, tripled in two runs. Marte, the NLCS Most Valuable Player, extended his record-tying postseason hitting streak to 17 games with an RBI double.

Monday night, the Rangers defeated the defending champion Houston Astros in ALCS Game 7. To get here, the Diamondbacks defeated the Phillies in Game 7 of the NLCS on Tuesday night.

Unless there is a four-game sweep, the 2023 Fall Classic will conclude on October 31 and continue into November.

Although the Rangers have never played a World Series game at Globe Life Field (which will open in 2020), the stadium has previously hosted the Fall Classic. In 2020, during the COVID-shortened MLB season, the ballpark hosted the World Series at a neutral site.

Why Rangers have a World Series home-field advantage?

In previous years, World Series home-field advantage was determined by the All-Star Game; however, this year it will be determined by regular-season record alone. The Rangers had 90 victories, while the Diamondbacks had 84. No unpleasant tiebreakers.
