49 children die in month due to lack of oxygen in Farrukhabad govt hospital

Nearly 49 children died in a month in a government-run hospital in Farrukhabad, Uttar Pradesh, reported CNN-News 18. A first information report (FIR) has been filed against the chief medical officer (CMO) post the incident.

The District Magistrate (DM) ordered an investigation into the incident after the children allegedly died due to lack of oxygen.

The development follows after the incident at a state-run hospital in Gorakhpur where hundreds of children died to due similar reasons.

On Saturday, Dr Kafeel Khan, initially seen as a savior of many children in Gorakhpur, was arrested for stealing oxygen cylinder for his private clinics.

He was one of the seven individuals named in the case.
