Ferumal Verma, an 83-year-old man, frustrated with the working of the corrupt system has penned down a letter to Uttar Pradesh chief minister, Yogi Adityanath,  saying he wants to commit suicide. A resident of Ghaziabad’s Rajpur area,  Verma said that in 1972 he worked in the Sugarcane department of Meerut where he was badly exploited.

“I was exploited by a person who was heading the sugarcane department in Meerut and on December 3, 1972, I informed about the exploitation to the higher officials of the state government as my job was in danger,” Verma told Jagran.  He alleged that the then head of the sugarcane department demanded a bribe of Rs 500. He sought some help legally, but to no avail. He registered a complaint on 21 May,1973, with the senior officials of the government. But nothing has happened till date.

He then approached the Governor of the state on 20 August,1973, requesting him to launch an investigation into the matter. But, as per the elderly man, instead of getting justice his services with the sugarcane department were hammered down on 31 August , but despite that, he continued to work until 17 September .

Verma’s only question to the authorities is that when he continued to work until 17 September  then why were his services terminated on 31 August , 1972. He also tried reaching out to the court and asked for an answer on email for which he is still waiting.
