1. Nita Ambani was elected as an individual member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on August 4. She received the highest percentage of valid votes, 92.20%, making her the first Indian woman to become a member of the global body.

2. Nita recently received ‘Y’ Security, meaning she now has 10 CRPF personnel surrounding her whenever she travels. Her security is completely financed by the government (read: tax payers). Her husband, business tycoon, Mukesh Ambani, already enjoys ‘Z’ security, which is a notch higher. Nita joins a list of nearly 450 VIPs who have also been provided ‘Y’ security cover.

3. Nita shares an extremely close relationship with Prime Minister Narenda Modi. Just a few weeks ago a video surfaced of her calling him “Narendra”—some people contest that she said “Narendra Bhai”. We can safely say majority of the country refers to him as “Modiji”, “Mr Modi” or even “PM Modi”. The only other acceptable exception to this rule, we thought, was US President Barack Obama, as he says Modi is his “good friend”.

4. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official Twitter handle has previously quoted Nita Ambani’s statements and even promoted her speech. Well, to be fair, it may have been done to promote the Prime Minister’s own Swachh Bharat initiative, which she was speaking about, but Nita got enough traction too.

5. Nita Ambani was awarded the most influential businesswoman in Asia by Forbes this year. She beat other women achievers like Alibaba’s co-founder Lucy Peng for instance. Nita chairs Reliance’s sports ventures and is the founder and chairperson of Reliance Foundation, the CSR arm of Reliance Industries. She is the co-owner of the Indian Premier League franchise Mumbai Indians and led the Education for All (EFA) initiative as part of Mumbai Indians’ way of giving back to society. By the way, her better half is the richest person in India.
