In an incident that is enough to give you Goosebumps, an 80-year-old woman was assaulted and killed in the most horrific way in Sonipat’s Bathgaon village in Haryana on Wednesday. The attacker who is yet to be identified, inserted a plastic bottle of the toilet cleaner Harpic into her private parts.

The woman bleeds to death. Although there was no proof of rape found in an early investigation, police officials aren’t ruling out the possibility of sexual abuse.

Doctors, who carried out post-mortem, said they had never witness such brutality previously. They said the case had reminded them of the brutal Nirbhaya case of Dec 2012 wherein a woman was brutalized and gang-raped in a moving bus in Delhi. The incident brought huge shame to the country and led to extensive protests across the nation.

The body of the victim was found in a blood-soaked quilt on her bed on the ground floor of her house. She was rushed to the civil hospital in Sonipat where doctors found bottle inside her body. The bottle was inserted in her body forcefully that caused the anus to break and hurt the small and big intestines too. Extreme internal bleeding choked the lungs, that is said to be the reason of death.

The victim used to live on the ground floor of the small house and one of her two sons lived on the first floor with his family.  Reportedly, Sonipat Sadar police station SHO Prahlad Singh said they are yet to validate how and when the murderer entered her room.

Her son Jai Bhagwan was the first to see the body. “When he removed the quilts, he saw the blood. He informed the neighbors who called the police. We have asked the doctors to take swabs to ascertain whether the victim was subjected to sexual abuse or not,” said Singh.

As per a report in TOI, Dr Sumit Kaushal, a member of the medical board formed to conduct autopsy termed the brutality as “beyond imagination”. “You won’t believe what I saw. Imagine the pain the victim must have gone through,” he said.

Notably, this is the second such incident of brutality in a year from Haryana.

A 28-year-old Nepali woman who was staying with her sister in Rohtak had gone missing on Feb 1, 2015. After three days, her mutilated body was found and the post-mortem showed that pieces of condoms and a stick had been inserted inside her private parts.
