A Lashkar-e-Taiba militant on Thursday was killed while a policeman was injured in an encounter in Bandipora district of north Kashmir. The security forces launched a cordon and search operation on specific intelligence input about presence of militants in Hajin area of Bandipora, a police official said.
During the search operation, the hiding militants fired upon the forces. The militant was killed when the latter retaliated. A police constable was also injured in the combat, said the official.
The injured constable has been referred to a hospital.
According to the official, the militant belonged to LeT outfit.
Some miscreants also pelted stones on the security forces near the encounter site he said.
