As the nation celebrates the Festival of Colours on March 20 & March 21 this year, there are some things that shouldn’t be ignored before we head ourselves into the festive vibe.

Holi is the festival of enthusiasm, colours, food and celebration. When food is concerned, apart from the delicious sweets there is another thing which is closely associated with the festival and that is “Bhang”.

Bhang Thandai is made with milk containing cannabis, almonds, almonds and nuts. Sometimes saffron strands and rose petals are also added to the drink. It increases the celebration spirit of the festival.

But apart from the celebration angle, it can also be harmful to the health and as everything has its own repercussions, bhang also has its side effects.

Before consuming the Bhang Thandai this Holi, let’s look at some important things that should be kept in mind.

  • Avoid consuming Bhang in unknown places

Drinking Bhang at unfamiliar places and with strangers can be very dangerous for a person. Bhang has some alcoholic content that can make you fall asleep and that can cause people to take advantage.

  • Avoid Bhang consumption empty stomach

Alcohol and antioxidant get much higher when consumed empty stomach and that’s the reason bhang is mixed with ‘Thandai’, as it helps to dilute the effects. So to avoid any health issues, don’t consume it empty stomach.

  • Don’t drive after consuming Bhang

Just like drinking in driving is not allowed the same is the case with Bhang because the alcohol and intoxicated content make you unconscious and it can be very dangerous for your own life.

  • Heart patients should not consume Bhang

If you’re having any kind of health issues related to heart, high BP or nerve related problem then you shouldn’t consume Bhang. Also, asthmatic patients should never consume Bhang.

  • Don’t mix Bhang with alcohol

Sometimes people experiment with the drinks and if you’re anyway thinking of mixing Bhang along with alcohol drop the idea as it can have fatal results. Even if consuming it and standing in direct sunlight can have an adverse effect and can mess up your head.

  • Don’t take painkillers for post Bhang hangover

For the headache that occurs after consuming Bhang, it is advised to not to take painkillers as it can lead to acidity leading to nausea. It is advised to take a bath with cold water because it reduces the effect.

So don’t just get lost in the excitement of the festival to make the spirits high but also it is important to think about the health first. These tips will help you enjoy the festival with better health.
