Amid the Citizenship Amendment Acts protests and police-students violence at Jamia Millia Islamia campus, the university’s Vice-Chancellor Najma Akhtar on Monday interacted with the angry students and announced the postponement of exams again.
Earlier in the day, hundreds of JMI students gheraoed Akhtar’s office, demanding an FIR against the Delhi Police in connection with the violence that unleashed on the campus on December 15. The protesting students also demanded that the university reschedule examinations and ensure safety of its students.
On December 16, Akhtar had demanded an inquiry against police’s December 15 entry into the campus and “vandalism”.
After entering the university, police had detained many students. All of them were released around 3.30 am on December 16.
