ELI Scheme Benefits: The Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has once again decided to give more time to employees for linking their Aadhaar with bank accounts and activating their UAN. This step is important for those who want to get the benefits under the Employment Linked Incentive (ELI) scheme. As per the latest circular shared by EPFO, the new deadline has been extended till June 30, 2025.

EPFO had already given many extensions earlier. The first deadline was November 30, 2024, mentioned in the first notice on November 22. After that, EPFO kept giving more time through several circulars. These updates were issued on December 4, December 12, February 6, February 21, and March 3. The most recent one came on May 30, 2025, where EPFO clearly wrote that the last date has now moved to June 30, 2025.

The Labour Ministry earlier had shared that all employers must help their workers activate UAN and link Aadhaar to their bank accounts. This is needed so that employees who qualify for the ELI scheme can get the benefit directly into their accounts through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer). The EPFO also requested employers to give special attention to new employees who joined in this financial year. If they need any help, they were told to reach out to the nearest EPFO office for guidance.

What Is the ELI Scheme All About?

The ELI scheme was first announced in the 2024-25 Union Budget to boost jobs and support new workers. The scheme gives financial help both to employees and employers. It has two parts, scheme A and scheme B. Scheme A is made for first-time workers who are new to the EPFO system and earn less than ₹1 lakh every month. Scheme B is for jobs created in the manufacturing sector.

Under the Scheme A, eligible workers receive money from the government in three instalments. But to get this help, they must have an active UAN and must link their Aadhaar number with their bank account. That’s why EPFO made it clear that Aadhaar seeding and UAN activation are must for all workers who want to get this benefit.

This effort by EPFO and the Ministry of Labour & Employment shows they are serious about making sure no eligible employee misses the support. By giving more time till June 30, 2025, they want to make it easy for everyone to finish the Aadhaar and UAN process.
